Orthopedic clinic in Osaka (renovation)

A popular clinic where there is a line in front of the entrance before opening. After 10 years since opening, client felt that there were some problems, and they wanted to make the clinic more open after the corona disaster.Except for the consultation room, X-ray room, and private rooms such as the WC, the design was designed to be airy and to facilitate communication between staff members.Specifically, we installed transom windows that can be opened and closed facing the outdoors to let the wind through, and removed the wall between the waiting room and the rehabilitation room to create an integrated space that allows line of sight to pass through. The back of the chair in the waiting area was raised to hide the patient undergoing the procedure.Due to the corona crisis, it is necessary to keep a distance, so we did not put long sofas in the waiting area, but put single sofas individually, and installed a backrest bar along the wall next to the outdoor entrance for customers waiting before opening. While the space is unified, it does not create a monotonous atmosphere, so we drew a flowing pattern on the floor and installed a large ring-shaped indirect lighting on the ceiling. The back shelf of the reception counter and the back shelf of the rehabilitation counter are open shelves so that the staff can easily take them out. Green, which was the key color of the original clinic, was used for the floor and walls, and wickerwork netting, a material from Taiwan, which is the roots of the director, was attached to the windows so that the inside of the room could not be seen during the day. Instead of the hospital-like white interior, we used materials with a sense of touch to create an open orthopedic surgery with a generous sense of unity.
