House of Iga City, Mie Prefecture.
The L-shaped building catches a lot of sunlight from the southeastern garden. The living rooms are lined up on the garden side, and the outer wall is finished with white plastering, and the black burnt cedar outer wall protects privacy on the road side. A continuous one-story space surrounding the garden connects the space horizontally, and the living room with a vaulted ceiling, a loft study, and a slightly lowered children’s room connect the space vertically. I used 1/4R here and there to emphasize each connection.
